Save the Date

Save the date cards are typically sent 12-18 months before your wedding.

They announce an upcoming event date and request that the recipient hold or reserve the mentioned date on their calendar. At this stage, including the wedding venue and time is optional—entirely up to you!

We offer Save the Dates to match all our wedding invitation designs, to keep consistency across all aspects of your wedding stationery.

We do not offer a single sample of our Save the Date cards, however you can order a Package Sample Pack with our invitations from chosen collection and request a sample of wedding save the date of that design as one of the items.

Do you need them

YES, these may be useful if:

  1. ●   you’re planning a SUMMER WEDDING

Avoid clashes with guests’ holiday plans as people tend to book vacations well in advance.

  • ●   your wedding is during SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

Consider friends with children or those in the teaching profession who might be away during breaks.

  • ●   your wedding day falls on a BANK HOLIDAY weekend

As above

  • ●   you’re getting married MIDWEEK

Give your guests plenty of time to request time off work in advance

  • ●   your friends have busy SOCIAL LIVES

Allow for conflicting social events that might occur on your wedding day.

  • ●   you’re very EXCITED but it’s too early to send out invitations

Your wedding date and venue are booked, the wedding is getting real and you’re bursting to share the news.

  • ●   a lot of your guests live OUTSIDE THE AREA

Offer time for arranging transportation and accommodations at better rates.

  • ●   some guests are on a FIXED INCOME

This gives them time to save up for attending your wedding.

  • ●   some guests are SHIFT WORKERS

They usually need to request time off well in advance

  • ●   your invites can’t be sent out until closer to the time

It’s usually due to MENU planning (often finalised much closer to the wedding date by the venue)

  • ●   you’re getting married OVERSEAS

Provide sufficient notice for guests to plan and book their holidays accordingly.

  • ●   you want guests to STAY OVER at the venue

Give them more time to find and book suitable local accommodations at reasonable prices.

  • ●   some guests have little CHILDREN or you’re planning an ADULTS-ONLY wedding

Offer time to arrange suitable childcare or communicate the wedding’s nature.

  • ●   to avoid DOUBLE-BOOKED date

Prevent potential scheduling conflicts if another couple from your circle is planning a wedding around the same time.

NO, you don’t have to bother if:

●   you send your invitations well in advance, allowing everyone to plan accordingly.

●   it’s a small, intimate ceremony mostly with family and closest friends.

●   you’re getting married locally, and most of your guests are also local.

●   you’re having an engagement party so it’s kind of an announcement already

●  you plan to have a short engagement period and can send formal invitations soon.

● you’ve already discussed the wedding plans extensively with all potential attendees, making a save-the-date card redundant.

Our Save the Date cards usually come with standard wording, but on request, we change it. You can word your save the Date cards to match the style of your wedding — whether formal, traditional, funny, or casual.

So as you can see, although Save the Dates are not mandatory, they are highly beneficial and should be one of the first items on your to-do list.

But what if you’re on a tight budget?

ways to cut the costs

●   send everyone a text/call if they need to know well in advance

●   create a digital Save the Date (for free in Canva), save it as a picture, and print or send it electronically

●   buy an online design template, edit it with your details, and hare it via Facebook, Whatsapp, email, or print

●   buy a matching digital save the date with your details, professionally formatted and ready to send to your guests’ phones

●   set up a Save the Date Facebook event and then send out invites a few months later

●   send save the date only to those who would be invited to the entire day

●   send them only to people u truly want to have there
